Things you recall

As my earlier post would have you realise I did go off and venture forth again to day.
Off to a friend's across the water and we had a nice wee lunch and a mooch about as one does in the brilliant sunshine.
Then back to hers for real coffee and a blether.
We did wonder if mother recalls anything, friend mentioned all the flash clothese/ shoes mother has. Mother never wore anything unless it was designer ( vintage stuff now sitting doing nothing) and my friend wondered if I brought some items out would that jog something in her mind, nope, as she believes the 3 wardrobes full if this stuff in her room isn't hers.
What is hers are her nighties, some pairs of knickers, some M&S jumpers & 2 skirts.
Her mink coat is some old woman's who must have left it behind!
Every now & again she hauls everything out and demands it be taken away.

The reason the topic of what she recalls came up was I mentioned, that the Gracie Fields drama had been on and I'd foolishly thought, WW2, music ,etc & this would jog something, not an inkling. Yet mother was a young woman in the war, she went off to London to help the war effort by helping make bullets etc so assumed anything WW2 related might get her.

Also made me wonder , would she ever remember the fun tmes we had on Mallorca in the 1960s, being a slip of a lass ( I was sent off to boarding School Sept 1967 at 7) but we had such fun times, meeting folk, mostly famous, as the island was THE IN place then.
Also her best friend, owned the one and only English bar on the island and he'd been to school with a certain Michael Caine and folk kind of gravitated to him. Also helped he was as mad as a box of snakes, danced about the place singing Tom Jones, or do a mean impersonation of Fagan ( he did his whole Deliah for the man himself one night!). Its like her mind is clean, only thing she recalls is home village and her mother.
There are so many memories that she could have kept but no its all gone.
I think that must be the cruel thing about dementia, you might recall somethings but you loose so much.

Which lead us onto our next part of our chat which then had us giggling I think her hubby thought us quite mad. I recalled Uncle's care home always played the likes of Jim Reeves, songs from the war etc to entertain them, and we ventured forth what would we be sitting rocking to when we are in our nursing homes?
Billy Idol?
Alice Cooper?
Bay City Rollers?
Abba?
