Sunday, RIP Marco

As many of you know I am a great fan of Motogp, and for the last few weekends been up at the crack of dawn to watch it.
Today wasn't any different as it was coming from Sepang.
The penultimate one of the season and all that.
No Jorge, as he was injured in a crash last weekend, no John Hopkins as he was injured yesterday.
You kind of get used to the crashes, and with airbags in their suits etc get deployed and you hear of collar bones being broken, legs being pinned etc, and the last thing you expect is to see a crash that ends with a fatality.
But this morning saw that.
Marco Simoncelli, no 58 (& 2 of my euro millions numbers) crashed,he lost control of his bike, usually when this happens the tyres don't grip and the bike slips out but for some reason the front tyre kept gripping, this was on lap 2 and on corner 11.
Colin Edwards got caught up in it, and hit him and came off too.
Valetino it seems must have hit him too,and in fact in thought Vale would go down too.
He was lucky, and to be honest I am sure I saw him cross himself,he must have thought,Marco needs all the help he can get, as like the viewing public he was seeing that Marco's helmet was off.
Now I had hoped, because of Marco's nickname, his hair would help a bit, his nickname was Side show Bob, as from the Simpsons and I wondered often how he got a helmet on.
Race was stopped, and we were told he was conscious, but, there was mistakes, it was Colin who was conscious ,and thn told race would start at later. BBC filled waiting news.
Marco has had lots of crashes, and some "good" ones, and Jorge has sworn about him etc but nothing could prepare for the news he'd passed over.
Weirdly kind of felt he had, long before it was released.
After reading the information about what had been wrong with him, I was right when I felt the was no way back for him.
I saw a tweet off Jorge later in Spanish and all it said was WTF? He like millions over Europe would have sat watching and think the same, another Matco crash, he will be suffering broken bones etc but ok.
What I'd like to know was how did his helmet come off? Was it because of his hair? Was there a fault?
Did his air bags deploy?
This is not the end of the season any fan or rider would have wanted and in 2 weeks in Valencia it's going to be somber.
I am sick of hearing from those that think bikes are boring etc, that these guys aren't sportsmen, etc, but these guys are, they do the sort as they love it,and have done it for years, Marco was just 24 and I don't know who's long I've watched his career over the years as he moved up into Motogp. There is only leathers between them and seriously being injured. So to me they are sportsmen.
I remembered this morning, I had a picture of no 1 son with Marco from Laguna Seca this summer.
He looked very Marco, hair everywhere and a smile.
That's how I'd like to remember him and hope he didn't know a thing today after the crash.
Another great biker now racing in the circuit in heaven.
