lest we forget

A couple of things went through my mind :
* the 10th of September would have been the anniversary of the last time people had their loved ones with them all those years ago.
* If it had been Canary Wharf they had ploughed into would the outcome be different?

The first thought has me thinking that the 10/9 might be worse for some families than 11/9 or as the Americans put 9/11 and how its remembered.
Why worse? Well, they could have had a crappy day with their loved one, you normal ordinary stuff that we don't think of as bad at the time, but by tea time of 9/11 they might have thought if only I'd spent quality time with them, told them I loved them etc.
I'm hoping for the majority that they had quality time and the last thing they remember about their loved ones was and is good memories of the last day together.

Secondly, I do think the outcome of WTC etc would have been different if It happened here say at Canary Wharf.
I saw a quote way back then by Jerry Springer who stated it would have been better happening in the UK as we had the blitz spirit, but I don't think it was attributed to WW2 etc I think he also meant we'd lived through bombings due to the Northern Ireland conflict and he probably thought we were used to it.
Maybe he was right in a way.
But the bigger picture to me would be, if it happened here, would Blair have gone to war on Iraq/ Afghanistan as the George W did? Would the President mobilise his armed forces to join with us or would he have went no sorry and left us to get on with a re build?
Or was it just Blair that just couldn't say no to Bush?

I'm anti war oh believe you me, but I'm not anti armed forces, know too many people I cherish in the armed forces, I support the troops etc and yes I have been to the funeral of someone killed in Iraq, one of the hardest thing I had to do and I remember him every July 5th.

I just wondered, what would have happened if it was us and not America  had been bombed by Islamic terrorists, and I doubt we'd have a Pastor threatening to burn the Qur'an.

But one thing we shouldn't forget is that it was ordinary Muslims that bombed NYC etc but terrorists who did. Nor should we forget those that died in the WTC or on the planes or the brave men and women who went into WTC and tried to save people.
We should not forget but we shouldn't blame a religion for it.
